Schedule a free meet and greet. We'll come to your home in Ogden or the surrounding area, meet your pets, review their care routine, and make sure we're the right fit before anything is booked or paid. There's no commitment required.
We spend 30 to 45 minutes at your home. We meet your pets, go over feeding schedules, medication needs, behavioral notes, emergency contacts, and any special instructions. We also walk through your home so we understand the layout, access points, and your pet's environment. Everything is documented in Time to Pet before the first visit.
For regular services, we recommend booking at least one week in advance. For holiday periods, two to three weeks is safer. We do our best to accommodate last-minute requests, but availability is limited during peak travel seasons, so earlier is always better.
No. Services are booked on a per-visit or recurring basis through the Time to Pet app. You can adjust, pause, or cancel your schedule without penalty, subject to our standard cancellation policy.
Time to Pet is the professional pet care management app we use for all scheduling, communication, and visit reporting. Once you're onboarded, you can request services, view your schedule, message your care team, and receive photo visit reports all in one place. It's available on iOS and Android.
Yes. Every team member passes a comprehensive background check before they ever enter a client's home. This is non-negotiable and applies to every hire, not just new ones.
Yes. Away Home & Pet Care is fully licensed, bonded, and insured. We carry business liability insurance that covers all services we provide in Ogden and surrounding Weber County communities. This protects your home, your pets, and you.
All of our team members are W-2 employees, not independent contractors or gig workers. This is an important distinction. It means they are hired, trained, and managed by us directly, and held to our standards on every visit.
Away Home & Pet Care is a W-2 employer. Every person who cares for your pet is a direct employee of our company, not a freelance contractor. That means consistent training, direct oversight, and a professional standard of care on every visit.
All team members are certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. Our team is also Fear-Free trained, which means we use low-stress handling techniques designed to reduce anxiety in pets during care visits. We are a member of Pet Sitters International.
Yes. Away Home & Pet Care is a member of Pet Sitters International (PSI), the world's largest educational association for professional pet sitters. PSI membership reflects our commitment to professional standards and continuing education in pet care.
We contact you immediately. We keep your emergency vet's contact information and a backup emergency contact on file before the first visit. If you cannot be reached and your pet needs urgent care, we transport them to your designated veterinarian or the nearest emergency animal hospital and document everything. All team members are Pet CPR and First Aid certified for exactly this reason.
All walks are private. Your dog is never grouped with unfamiliar dogs. Your walker's full attention is on your dog for the entire visit, which reduces stress and eliminates the safety risks that come with group walks.
Our standard walk is 30 minutes. We also offer 20-minute, 45-minute, and 60-minute options. The right length depends on your dog's breed, energy level, and daily routine. We'll talk through the options during your meet and greet.
Generally, yes. For daily dog walking, we assign a consistent, dedicated walker who gets to know your dog's personality and routine. In the rare case your regular walker is unavailable, we communicate the change in advance. Any substitute is a fully trained, background-checked member of our team who already has your dog's notes on file.
Yes. We walk in rain, cold, and most Utah weather conditions. In cases of extreme weather such as lightning, dangerous heat, or heavy snow, we may shorten the walk or substitute with indoor playtime and a potty break. We always communicate any changes before the visit.
We use a professional team approach for pet sitting and cat sitting. A primary team member is assigned to your pet, and we make every effort to send the same people each time. Every member of our team is trained to the same standards, so your pet receives consistent care regardless of who visits. Because we are a professional company, you are never left without coverage.
We offer Almost Overnight, a two-hour evening visit before bedtime plus a one-hour morning visit. It gives pets the reassurance of extended coverage at bedtime and wake-up without a full overnight sleepover. A good fit for anxious pets or multi-pet households.
Yes. Our team members are trained to administer oral medications, eye drops, ear drops, and other routine medications. Please discuss any medication needs during your meet and greet so we can document the instructions and confirm we are the right fit for your pet's needs.
Every visit includes feeding and watering per your instructions, potty breaks or litter box cleaning, playtime and companionship, and a photo visit report sent through Time to Pet. We also collect mail, water plants, and handle any other agreed-upon tasks. Nothing is skipped.

Yes. A holiday surcharge applies on major holidays. We communicate holiday pricing in advance so there are no surprises. Holiday availability fills up quickly, so we recommend booking two to three weeks ahead during peak travel periods.
All scheduling is handled through the Time to Pet app. Once you are onboarded, you can request services, view your schedule, message your care team, and receive visit reports in one place. We do not accept scheduling requests by text or social media.
Yes. Away Home & Pet Care uses Time to Pet for all scheduling, communication, and visit reporting. After your free meet and greet, you will receive a login so you can request services, view your upcoming visits, and receive photo updates directly through the app.
We ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice are subject to a cancellation fee. We understand that things come up, and we ask for as much advance notice as possible so we can manage our team's schedule fairly.
Payment is processed securely through the Time to Pet app. We accept all major credit cards. Payment is due at the time of service. We do not accept cash or checks.
