D&RG Rail Trail, Roy Segment
Easy3.2 miles within Roy (full trail is 23.5 miles through northern Utah)
A flat, paved multi-use path on the former Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad corridor. Roy has two trailheads, one at 6000 South and one at Roy West Park near 4800 South, connecting to parks, neighborhoods, and the regional trail network.

Tip. Trail is mostly exposed to sun, bring water for you and your dog. Several street crossings have zig-zag safety gates. Connects to FrontRunner stations for longer point-to-point trips.
George E. Wahlen Park Walking Loop
Easy0.81 miles (paved loop)
A paved perimeter trail surrounding this 12.68-acre community park at 4200 S 2175 W. Named after Medal of Honor recipient George Edward Wahlen, a Roy resident. Good for a quick walk combined with time at the park.
Leash required outside the dog park
Tip. Ample parking on site. Splash pad runs Memorial Day through Labor Day, earlier morning walks are quieter for dogs on busy summer days.
Adams Canyon Trail
Hard3.5 miles out-and-back
Located in Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest near Layton (about 10 miles from central Roy), climbing roughly 1,000 feet to a 40-foot waterfall. One of the most accessible canyon hikes for Roy-area residents.

Tip. Trail starts off Adams Canyon Drive in Layton. Final approach is steep and rocky. Bring extra water, dogs work hard on this one.
